Gathering 2015: Workshop Preview III

Tools for Community Engagement in Seeking USDA Funding: Community Food Projects Grant Program

Workshop Description: This session will use the World Café method to discuss tools for community engagement in under-served and minority communities in preparation to apply for a Community Food Projects (CFP) grant. According to NIFA, Community Food Projects are intended to bring together stakeholders from the distinct parts of the food system and to foster understanding of national food security trends and how they might improve local food systems.Using the World Cafe, we will discuss the challenges that organizations face in regards to successful community engagement in under-served or minority areas, and collectively problem solve creative solutions. This session will not only lead to a discussion of common challenges with community engagement, but it will also give participants a tool to bring back to their own communities or organizations.

An engaging presentation by:
Sarah Lambertson from New Entry Sustainable Farming Project.
